Janet A. Hines is an Assistant Planner and Grant Writer for CGP&H. In her current capacity she is responsible for researching materials for use in planning documents and grant applications. Janet also researches grant opportunities for both municipal and non-profit clients, as well as writing various grant applications. Since joining CGP&H, she has been successful in writing grant applications that have resulted in the allocation of more than $2 million to various municipal clients.

Prior to joining the Planning and Grant Writing Team in 2007, Janet worked for the New York City Department of City Planning–Bronx Borough Division, where she participated in a massive rezoning initiative in the Northeast Bronx. Additionally, she has studied and identified waterfront corridors to be included in the City’s overall plan for waterfront revitalization. Janet has worked, and continues to work, with non-profit community organizations to create economic and employment development plans to help at-risk communities and their residents.

Janet has worked with local business owners and residents in Willets Point, Queens, NY to create an alternative economic development plan for the blighted community that addresses the concerns of business owners and residents. This community has been the subject of a series of court battles between the neighborhood and city to prevent seizure of land through eminent domain.

In addition, Janet worked for New Jersey Transit in its Department of Communications. She a team member of several major regional transportation projects that saw the successful implementation of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and the Newark City Subway extensions, and the opening of the Secaucus Junction rail station.

Janet received her Masters Degree in Urban Planning from the Hunter College of the City University of New York, and her Bachelors Degree from Temple University, Philadelphia.
